In use
Set the White & Blue Classic on a flat surface out of direct sunlight, in a room of 68 to 75°F, and switch it on. The wax flows after 2 to 3 hours. Switch the lamp off after 10 hours at most and give it 2 to 3 hours to cool before you move it.
Check before you buy
- Your spot has 3 inches of flat space and 11.5 inches of height, on a small desk or a shelf
- An outlet is within reach of the cord and its on/off switch
- Small children and pets cannot reach the lamp while it is on: the globe gets hot

Actually a really good lamp. I saw a lot of reviews that were unsatisfied, but I decided to give it a shot anyway. It's inactive sometimes, but when it is, it doesn't stay inactive for long. Takes a while to heat up and get moving, but once it does, it's good to go. It doesn't really get as hot as other lava lamps I've had in the past, so that's a positive as far as safety goes. It's relatively small, so it will fit just about anywhere. Overall, a good product. I'm surprised so many reviews were negative.
Never Worked
I saw the negative reviews for this lava lamp but I liked the style and it was the only model I found that would fit on our 12" shelves, so I went ahead and purchased it anyway. Having read many reviews in advance, I gently rotated the bottle to ensure the metal coil in the wax was facing down before turning the lamp on the first time. I left the lamp on for 8 hours the first night. It never flowed (see photo). I turned the lamp on for 8 - 10 hours the next 6 consecutive nights attempting to get the lamp to flow but never saw even on wax bubble rise to the top. Apparently, the lamp worked for some folks. It never worked for me. I would consider this a very risky product to purchase.

The size decides: the White & Blue Classic, 11.5 in stands 11.5 inches tall with a 12 oz globe, and the Yellow & Blue Classic, 14.5 in stands 14.5 inches with 20 oz. The bigger globe needs a 25 W bulb.
