Lava Lite Lava Lamp Replacement Bulbs
The bulb is the heater as well as the light, so the wattage has to match the lamp. Three bulbs cover the range.

Which replacement bulb do I need for my Lava Lite lamp?
Match the bulb to the lamp size: a 14.5 inch lamp takes the 25 W bulb, item 5025, and an 11.5 inch lamp takes the 15 W bulb, item 5015. Both come in packs of 2 with an E17 socket.

Can I use an LED or a brighter bulb instead of a Lava Lite bulb?
No: a 14.5 inch lamp is built around the heat of its 25 W incandescent bulb. An LED bulb gives light without the heat, so the wax never moves, and a brighter bulb overheats the globe.
| Compare | Lava Lite 25 W bulb | LED bulb | 40 W or brighter bulb |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heat for the wax | Matched to the 20 oz globe | Too little: the wax does not melt | Too much for a 20 oz globe |
| What the lamp does | Flows in 2 to 3 hours | Lights up but never flows | Overheats, with a risk of a cracked globe |
| Socket | E17, S11 shape | Must be E17 to fit at all | Our 40 W bulbs use the larger E26 socket |
| Rated life | 1,000 hours | Longer than incandescent | Varies by bulb |
| Energy | 25 W | A few watts for the same light | 40 W and up |
| Better choice when | The lamp is a 14.5 inch Lava Lite | It is for any other lamp in the house, where heat is waste | The lamp is a 16.3 or 17 inch model, which is built for 40 W |
LAVA® Lamps need both light and heat to function.

What buyers say about the 25 W Bulbs, 2-Pack
Replacement Light Bulb seems to do the trick!
Overall, I would say this product is pretty good! I bought my lava lamp years ago, and the original light bulb had since burnt out. I searched around to find a decent light replacement, and I decided to try this one. It has been months, and the replacement light bulb still works! I don't use it every day (or even every week for that matter), but I've used it enough times to see that it is decent! I think the best part is the price per bulb, seeing that this is a two-pack.
Works 100% in 14.5" Lava Lamp
These bulbs are the absolute jam! The perfect S11 size for a 14.5" lava lamp - the bulb has plenty of heat to quickly melt the wax inside the lamp whereas other Chinese knock-off bulbs were not sufficiently hot to work. Spent a few more dollars and get the real deal like these bulbs and never look back.
Questions
Lava Lamp Replacement Bulbs: answers
How long does a Lava Lite bulb last?
A Lava Lite appliance bulb is rated for 1,000 hours. At 3 hours an evening that is about 11 months.
Is the 5025 bulb the same as a refrigerator bulb?
It is the same family: the Lava Lite 5025 is a 25 W incandescent appliance bulb with an E17 socket and an S11 shape. Match all three, not the wattage alone.
